    In Memory of Pepper

Pepper, my Boston Terrier, passed away today. She was 13 years old. Ever since she had the big seizure about 2 months ago, she's been downhill since, but she was still active. The vet who was informed of the seizure said "he would give her medication, but at her age, well....". Last night, I noticed she was trying to get comfortable next to me in bed, and this morning, I put her sweater on to keep her warm and let her sleep in my bed (she always loves to sleep in my bed more than hers). She was cuddled up in my blanket on my bed which was the last time I saw her.
Mom said Pepper may have had a bad seizure that killed her, or she had heart failure...everyone who last saw her recently said Pepper looked sick, and I noticed she took short breaths. I told Mom that Pepper needed to be taken to the vet again real soon earlier because I was worried about her....I didn't know she will pass away today.
My parents found her laying in the breakfast nook, with her eyes open. Mom said the man who came over with them for business related reason said her heart wasn't beating, and my Dad said the same thing when he felt her heart and lungs. Mom said when she first saw Pepper laying on the floor, she knew Pepper was dead.
Mom came over to me when I just got home and told me. I cried my eyes out for my little friend....and Mom showed me where Pepper was buried (under my window). SHe was wrapped in her blue blanket that I always cover her up with for comfort, and was put in a box to bury her in. Mom said that Pepper died with the sweater I got her for Christmas, and she said Pepper is not suffering anymore. She also told me that Pepper got to open her Christmas presents early so she did get to see them. smile.gif Mom said that it will get easier, and to think about the happy memories (which I have lots of them with Pepper!).
I am still crying, as I see reminders....I couldn't believe she's gone....I just saw her this morning before I left for work. At least she didn't die on Christmas Day or at the vet hospital where it would scare her with strangers around....at least she died at home where the people she loves are.
I love Pepper so much....she's a part of my life and I will miss her very much. sad.gif

    Pepper

    Pepper

I have a 13 year old Boston Terrier named Pepper. I had her since she was a 5 month old pup. She's still a cutie, but is looking old because of the gray mixed in with her black and white fur in the face.
Because of her age, she cannot hear as well as she used to be. I was walking behind her, and she got startled when I was going to pet her around the head. Calling her name was of no use. I asked her once, "Do you want to borrow my hearing aid?"
Pepper is a snuggler and a licker. I think it is a Boston Terrier thing. A lot of nights, she would snuggle right next to me when I sleep. And she has a terrible habit of licking...I wonder sometimes if she gets tired of it. I even told her she has a "busy tongue".
When she wants to play, she would bow down, and watch my hands try to get her. She watches my hands try to touch her paws and she would try to nip it (but she wouldn't). Then she runs around and then we play the same game again. She gets to be a ball of energy even at age 13! She has a favorite toy next to her own bed when she has the urge to chew.
When she was little, she was a mischievous mutt. She would pull flowers out of the yard and run around with it. She would chew my hair, or sneak up to me to nip my earlobe. She even dragged one of my unmentionables across the living room, and pulled a roll of toilet paper through the house. She was quite a character!
She would bark at her bowl of food sometimes. When she was younger, she would dance around her bowl first, then drag it across the floor, and then bark at it! Next, she would flip the bowl over, and then start eating. I wonder what kind of ritual dance she was doing?
Pepper is one dog that I will never forget.

    LittleBeasts.com

One of my favorite websites about Boston Terriers is Little Beasts.  The stars of "Little Beasts" are BTs named Bergamont Fury and Emrys.  They have humorous features like "Boston Terriers in Art History", dress up games, and more! You can even enter a contest every week by putting in a "caption" of the Boston Terrier picture provided in "Photo of the Week", and you can review all the past photos and winners of the captions in those photos.  There is also a BT cam called "Live Nude Puppies" where you can view Bergamont and Emrys in real time on videocam. :-)  To top it off, there is a "Photo Album" where you can see various Boston Terrier pictures. :-)  There are so much more in the site, so go visit Little Beasts and ENJOY!
